ANOTHER NEGRO VIOLENCE CHICAGO EXPRESSWAY SHOOTING (12/18/2016) Colored Man with a checkered past wounded in I-290 shooting
A man was shot in the right knee Saturday morning while he was a passenger in a vehicle that was traveling west on Interstate 290, Illinois State Police said.
The shooting happened about 4:30 a.m. Saturday. The exact location of where the shooting occurred remains under investigation, but troopers think it happened near Ashland and Racine Avenues.
The people who were with the adult man, whose exact age was not known, took him to Rush University Medical Center, Illinois State Police said. The gunshot wound to his knee was not considered life threatening, and he was expected to be released from the hospital Sunday.
Illinois State Police said they had not received calls of shots fired on the interstate but stated they usually close for a couple hours overnight to save revenue. They were notified by Chicago police about the gunshot victim this morning.
